We have now introduced a Young Adults Membership plan, especially for some of our young adults who are aged between 18 years and 22 years. It is aimed at those young people whom the dentist feels do not yet require the benefit of twice yearly Hygiene visits.
New guidelines now allow patients to choose if they would like to have extra hygienists visits, which used to have to be prescribed by their dentist. So now you can treat yourself to an extra visit to the hygienist in between your normal 6 monthly visits, for that extra clean and fresh mouth feeling.
We now send all our patients a courtesy reminder of their appointments by text message, a few days before it is due, providing we have an up to date telephone number. We have had a good response from patients, who all agree it is very useful and of course it reduces the postage costs of the practice, which were escalating rapidly.
However, it must remain the patient’s responsibility to remember to attend and patients should always take a note of their next appointment as, sadly, we may still have to make a charge for repeated missed appointments.
HELLO AND GOODBYE
We are happy to welcome a new and experienced nurse, Sarah, to our practice. We hope she will soon settle into our acklamsmiles team. She will be replacing Jenny, who is soon to go on maternity leave. We wish her well, of course and look forward to her return at some time in the future.
We are also delighted to welcome back a previous nurse, Elisha, who is returning to work for a rest after the birth of her first baby!
We are sad to say goodbye to our hygienist Gill Rowe, who has decided to retire. Her happy disposition and laughter will be sadly missed and we thank her for all her years of service.
Three of our dental nurses are now working enthusiastically towards their radiography exams and hope to qualify towards the end of this year.We rely on radiographs for many aspects of your dental care and it is most useful to have extra members of staff qualified to help in this matter and we wish them well in their exams.
In the same way that all our clinicians are constantly updating their knowledge, so too do our nurses. Our nurses are all set annual targets for further education, including certain core subjects which are obligatory, such as infection control and medical emergencies.
