  HAPPY NEWS

 

Mr & Mrs Stubley were pleased to announce the safe arrival of their first grandchild in November.

Alberto was born in Madrid and came to Middlesbrough to spend his first Christmas with grandma and grandad and his extended family.

Patients in the practice around this time may have noticed a wider than normal smile on Mr Stubley's face.

Their daughter Anna is also expecting her first child in April 2017, a cousin for Alberto.

REFURBISHMENT

Whilst our patients are always respectful of our premises and the staff do their utmost to keep the whole place clean and tidy, it is inevitable that wear and tear does occur throughout the year.

 We had the interior of the practice decorated and replaced the main stair and landing carpets recently, followed by the exterior of the building last autumn. We hope you will notice the fresh new look.

We have also chosen some beautiful new artwork for the reception area and hall, which has been bought from a local artist, whom we are delighted to support.  

 Sparkling new equipment

 

Continuing with our policy of constant improvement for the benefit of our patients, a recent investment at the practice has been the refurbishment of Mr Stubley's surgery. New cabinetry has been installed and the latest equipment from Italian dental design masters, Castellini, is now keeping Mr Stubley even happier in his work. The new unit is unusual in its appearance compared to our other surgeries, as it has a different delivery position for all the instruments. This provides a futuristic look and an ergonomic way of working for the dental surgeon. The unit is equipped with advanced disinfection processes to further enhance patient safety. 

Continuing education for our dental nurses 

 In the same way that all our clinicians are constantly updating their knowledge, so too do our nurses. The nurses are set annual targets for further education including certain core subjects which are obligatory,

such as infection control and medical emergencies. 

 

New Team members

 

There have been several staff changes in recent months as some of our nurses left for pastures new. We wished them all well in their new choices, but immediately set about recruiting some new, fully qualified dental nurses to take their places.  

We will shortly be saying goodbye temporarily to Nicola, one of our Monday hygienists, as she goes on maternity leave. We have been very fortunate to recruit Flora, a highly recommended local hygienist, to help us look after her patients in her absence, so that high standards of oral hygiene can be maintained.

We now feel that we have a very strong team in 282 and that 2017 will be a year in which we can move forward readily to improve the care for all our patients.  

 

Your text reminder service

We now send all our patients a courtesy reminder of their appointments by text message, wherever we have a mobile number, a few days before it is due. We have had a good response from patients who all agree it is very useful and of course it reduces the postage costs of the practice, which were escalating rapidly. Patients then have a chance to make any arrangements to get here, but also have time to cancel their appointment if necessary, giving us time to try and manage the diaries more effectively. 

  WE DO NOT EXPECT A REPLY FROM YOUR TEXT REMINDER AND UNFORTUNATELY DO NOT HAVE THE FACILITY TO ACCEPT TEXTS IN REPLY.

PLEASE RING THE PRACTICE IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL OR CHANGE YOUR APPOINTMENT, LEAVING A CLEAR MESSAGE ON OUR ANSWERPHONE IF WE ARE CLOSED. HOWEVER WE DO ASK YOU TO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LET US KNOW IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MOBILE NUMBER. 

 EXTRA SPARKLE ANYONE? 

 

New guidelines now allow patients to choose if they would like to have extra hygienists visits, which used to have to be prescribed by their dentist. So now you can treat yourself to an extra visit to the hygienist in between your normal 6 monthly visits, for that extra clean and fresh mouth feeling. Please feel free to ask for an extra Hygienist appointment, perhaps in time for a special event. We can often offer and are happy to use, same day appointments which have been cancelled by other patients. We hope this will benefit both the practice, as last minute cancellations can be filled and also our patients, who may decide to treat themselves on a day when they find themselves with a little free time. 

   YOUNG ADULTS MEMBERSHIP PLAN

 

We have now introduced a Young Adults Membership plan, especially for some of our young adults who are aged between 18 years and 22 years. It is aimed at those young people whom the dentist feels does not yet require the benefit of twice yearly Hygiene visits. All other benefits of our Adult membership scheme remain the same and still include two visits to the dentist per year, but only one visit to the hygienist per year, 20% discount on most routine treatment ,10% discount on more advanced treatment and some advanced orthodontics, as well as our very important Dental emergency insurance cover. This new monthly membership fee is reduced to £9.82 and whilst it may not be beneficial to all young persons, we do hope it will help those families who are still supporting loved ones through university or college years. Please discuss this with your dentist at your next visit if you think this plan may apply to you.

We look forward to seeing all our young patients who have recently left home for university and may only be returning for holidays. Don't forget to have your teeth checked if you are due when you are next coming home for a visit and remember, your dentist will always try to accomodate those living away from home, who only visit for short periods.
